The Hippest Food Park: The Yard at Xavierville

The Hippest Food Park: The Yard at Xavierville

Unless you’re living in a cave or has not been online for the past month, you’ve probably already heard about The Yard. The another addition to the booming food parks around and outside the metro. And being me that always wants to try out new food scenes, me and the boyf braved the Sunday rain to try and see what’s the fuss about this food park and how is it different from the others we’ve tried.

For starters, and for those who’re not aware of its existence, The Yard is I think one of biggest food parks I’ve tried. Its design is made up of shipping containers and has over 30 food stalls to choose from. Most of these are new and are already on the rage over social media. But yeah, I won’t be able to write down all the food choices here because apparently I don’t have the appetite to try all the food stands in one visit. But I’ll try to update this post whenever we try something new in The Yard. For now, I’ll just narrate our experience and how we see it as an effective hang out spot for food lovers out there.

I guess you can say that it already gain a plus points for the unique design and for actually offering 30 food stalls. But what is a 30 food stall food park if it really can’t cater to the consumers?

As what I’ve said, we went here Sunday night and it was raining due to the typhoon but we braved it anyway so it better not disappoint us. HAHA. There are limited parking spaces outside. So if you’re going here by driving your own car, better prepare for finding a parking space. Upon going inside, the place is already jam packed and given that it’s raining, I didn’t expect it to be so crowded.. so if it’s this crowded during rainy days, what more on normal days? There are a lot of tables but if not drenched in the rain, it is already occupied. So it was already a challenge to find a spot especially if you’re in a big group. Good thing though is there are also seats on the second floor of some stalls so we managed to sit in a table that can accommodate me and the boyf.

People eating and waiting.

After finding our seat, we then look for a stall where we can buy our food. So this is kinda challenging as well because what I noticed is the food stalls serve its food for a minimum of 30 minutes! And I’m not exaggerating that. Maybe because there are a lot of customers. But hey, I think they should be prepared enough to cater these number of people. I also wasn’t able to take photos of the food a la flat lay because we then have to wait for all the food to be served.. and it means waiting for almost an hour with some of the food already cooling up and has sparkled rain water. LOL. I think that’s one main valid point, right? But if you’re with your friends and you don’t mind waiting for your food and you’re really not hungry then there’s no problem at all.

And these are the food we managed to try on our first visit:

Epicure. They don’t actually serve food but they serve alcoholic drinks. From beers to cocktails. You name them.

Yakitori from Niku-Q. I really liked this one. This is actually the fastest stall that prepared our order.

The famous Dip N’ Dough. What can I say? Well, aside from that it’s really instagrammable and will make you crave for it when you see it in photos, it’s really yummy and delicious when you get to taste it in personal. It’s kinda heavy too because maybe of the dough used. I liked that when we get to try this, it was fresh from the doughnut maker (if that’s how you call it). But, but, but.. this is the slowest to prepare your order. After we found our seat, I went straight to this stall to try the famous cone donut only to find out that we have to wait for 45 minutes. I guess, it’s okay so I said we’ll wait. So what supposed to be an appetizer turns out to be a desert. haha! I’m not complaining though, who eats an ice cream for appetizer? I guess this is just a heads up for all you folks who wants to try this. Place your orders early so you can enjoy this after eating your main meal.

Chimney Supreme! We also tried Takami where we ordered their okonomiyaki that’s good for 4 people. And btw, this is just me and my boyfriend so we cannot really finish this. This reminds me of the okonomiyaki my tito* cooks only that his okonomiyaki is much more yummy. hehe! Also, it’s a little bit burnt so there’s a bitter taste to it.

And who else can forget about the juice that’s placed in a fish bowl? Quite a unique idea.

One of things I liked.. wings!! But unfornately, I forgot the name of the store. HUHU sorry. But yeah, as long as its wings, I don’t have any problems with it. My love for wings is never ending.
