Northern Mindanao: Cagayan de Oro White Water Rafting

Northern Mindanao: Cagayan de Oro White Water Rafting

Another amazing experience! I’m not actually familiar with rafting, all I know is that it’s for adrenaline junkies. And I’m very glad I was able to experience it! Not that I’m an adrenaline junkie, but for people like me who wants to experience new things.. this was definitely fun and exciting!

We had to wake up early on our last day in CDO because our call time was 8AM. We were picked up by a large jeepney where the rafting boats are placed on top. Given that it would be a long day because after lunch we will also go to Bukidnon for our last tour, we need to act fast and be on time. But of course, we were a bit delayed with our itinerary because we had to wait for other people.

We had the basic course which is 700/head. It is 13km and has 14 major rapids. Funny thing is they have names for each rapids. Lol. If you want to try this adventure and is not satisfied with their basic course, they also have an advance course which is 1000/head and has 24 major rapids (I think this is more sulit!*).

We are divided into two groups and lucky us, me and friends occupied one rafting boat. There’s a 15 minute briefing of what will happen in the waters. They taught us the different paddles we’ll be using, the things we need to do when we accidentally fell off the raft, and of course different safety measures.

We were given some time to enjoy and swim in the river.

Anddd.. that’s us! Our guide was sooo funny he even let us do crazy stuff like standing while we’re in rapids, forming a circle and support each other’s balance. Don’t get me wrong, I know it sounds unsafe but it definitely is safe! They know din naman* on where to really let us just sit. :) And actually, it’s one of the reason it was fun! Dami naming tawa. HAHA super!

That’s high five in rafting lingo. :)

And more high fives.

So why is this something you need try? It’s because you’ve never been to CDO if haven’t try this! And this is a good workout too! So for those who are dieting! guys.. you know what to do! hahaha. And of course, if you’re a travel junkie or someone who’s just looking for new fun things to try.. then this must be on your bucket list. Not only that this is safe, you also get to experience and see different panoramic views! but of course, you won’t be able to take a photo unless you have an action cam with you since regular cameras might just get wet or worse fall in the river. But don’t worry though, you will have an official photographer! what is this experience if you won’t be able to document it and you have no means to look back at how awesome the experience was! Pictures are burned into a CD and has an extra fee.. but hey! it doesn’t matter and an adventure this fun should have a picture posted on instagram! :))) #bloggerfeelz lol

paddle pa *more guys! hihi

Balance!

And that’s just us who just conquered the 14 major rapids. hehe. No one fall off the rafting boat! So it was definitely a fun, safe, and amazing experience. Thanks to our guide too for entertaining and making it a more fun experience.

Just a few reminders if you’re going to try this

(you should!):

  1. Wear your rashguard. Nobody wants to get sunburned. Summer or not, you will be exposed to the harmful rays of Mr. Sun so it’s better to get your skin protected.

  2. Wear sunblocks. On all the skin areas that aren’t covered.

  3. Do not bring gadgets or any stuff that you don’t want to get wet. Especially if it’s not waterproof.

  4. Bring small food and water to keep you hydrated all though out.

  5. Be friends with your guide!

  6. And of course, enjoy the moment and have fun! :D

Would be definitely doing this again whenever I come back to CDO. Syempre yung* advance course naman! Haha. This is one of the perks of travelling.. you get to experience things that are still foreign to you. Travel and experience is still the best teacher. :)
